AZKALS wears BURLINGTON socks
January 26, 2012
The Azkals United led by Azkals mainstays Emilio “Chieffy” Caligdong, Rob Gier, Misagh Bahadoran, Angel Guirado and Ian Araneta together with selected UFL stars gave the Koreans a very good and close fight in a charity game for the benefit of bagyong Sendong victims in Mindanao.
Despite the absence of the Younghusband brothers, Anton Del Rosario and other Azkals key players; they still managed to put up a good game against the current Champion of the Third division K3 League in South Korea – the Icheon Citizen Football Club.

The Korean team threw the first goal in the 21st minute sealing a near to victory scene for the Koreans but in the 89th minute of the second half, a goal from Fil-Italian Marwin Angeles coming from a pass courtesy of Misagh Bahadoran tied the game to 1-1.
A penalty shootout was carried out to determine the winner of the game. The Koreans sealed all their four attempts to goals, giving them score of four. The Filipinos however managed only two goals out of four goal attempts. The failed attempts by the Filipinos sealed the victory for the Korean team.

Despite the loss, the Azkals United gave the Filipino supporters something to be proud of. With the help of Burlington AZKALS socks, the Filipinos played with spirit and courage to give their supporters and the visiting team a good game.
